Students are exposed to several equestrian sports, including cross country riding, hunter/jumper, dressage, polo, vaulting and rough riding. In addition, Culver's horsemanship units, the Black Horse Troop and Equestriennes, have developed national reputations for appearing in the Presidential Inaugural Parade every four years, as well as other prestigious events. To help students develop to their fullest potential, Culver has created an equine science curriculum and invested in one of the finest stable/riding complexes in the country, the Vaughn Equestrian Center. The Vaughn Equestrian Center features 130 stalls, the riders' lounge, offices for instructors, and a 90- by 300-foot heated indoor riding arena with seating for 750 spectators. This arena allows students to continue their riding classes throughout the winter months. Culver's campus also includes a 600-acre bird sanctuary with 10-miles of horse riding trails suitable for the novice or advanced rider. If you have a high speed connection please watch this small movie showcasing our Horsemanship program here at Culver. It takes about a half-minute to download, and requires Windows Media Player to view it. |
