Acting I

Acting II


658: Acting I
This two-semester course, meeting twice a week, is an introduction to the development of the physical and intellectual tools the actor needs on stage. The course begins with basic stage movement and pantomime and continues through beginning monologue and scene work

 

659: Acting II
This continuation of Acting I also meets twice a week for two semesters. The emphasis is on scene work, using a variety of scene types to explore different acting problems for both theater and film. As a continuing class, it is required that the student complete Acting I to be eligible for this class..

Film Studies

656: Film Studies
This one-semester course, meeting daily, is open to 11th- and 12th-graders. It explores a specific genre of historical film which is broken into pairs of films for comparison sake. The students learn to analyze and criticize film as both an art form and as a comparison to other forms of written and oral histories. Emphasis is placed on ability to identify when history is being played with by the director and analyzing the motives for the changes that are there.oes here.

 

654: Technical Theater
This course focuses on the technical aspects of the theater: sets and set design, lighting, and sound. It is project-oriented; students utilize what they learn as crew members for our theater and dance productions as well as for the Concert Series and Visiting Artist Series performances
